Springtime in Chicago

We are now on the homeward stretch before my sisters wedding in 12 days.  She has been very busy with her work, and last minute planning that it has been hard to touch base with her.  I was thrilled to hear from her on Saturday, and we talked for what seemed like a half hour, into almost 2.  How fun to catch up.... I just love that girl, and I am thrilled to stand next to her on one of most special days!  She is going to be one gorgeous bride, let me tell you. GORGEOUS.  Simply stunning.  Her dress fitting went off without a hitch.  I can hardly wait.  We have all, been patiently waiting for the last 2 years for her to walk down this aisle, and what seemed like forever, is finally upon us, and will soon be over in the blink of an eye.

It is hard not being closer to her, to help with the last minute details, but such is life.  Everyone is always so busy, and it seems like we get busier and busier as we get older.  I was in Chicago last week, and for the first time in how many visits, it didnt rain (at least during the day) and it wasnt freezing!!!  Blessed be.  I get to go to Chicago several times a year, and it is always fun, but I am always wearing a coat.  This time, was just beautiful, the temp was around 75 degrees and the sun was shining brightly.

Along the sidewalks of the famed Michigan Avenue, are the most beautiful assortment of Tulips.  Now of course the tulips were at there peak last week, but still, look at the colors, and if you could only smell through your computer.....

This bunch was in front of Cartier, where it was hard to keep focused, tulips on the right, diamonds on the left!!

Of course not only the flowers catch my attention, as does the architecture.  Chicago, like New York and other large cities, are famous for their landmark buildings.

Such as the Wrigley Building.

Or, the Chicago Tribune next to the Intercontinental Hotel.

In all the times in Chicago, you would think I should have seen Oprah by now right?!!  Nope, not even once.  Other famous folks, but not Oprah.  Someday soon, before it is too late, I should see about some tickets.....

In other exciting news, besides a wedding in the near future, I have gotten some stitching in, and I will take some pics and post them in another entry.  I took a small project with me to Chicago, and was able to get some done.....OK half done.  But like I said, it was an EZ one!

So many beautiful samplers are being stitched!  Anyone have any summer projects they are milling over?  What is going to be the one, everyone is going to 'need'??  I have my own list going, and I would love to get some of my WIP's done.  We shall see though :)

Hope everyone has a great week!!!!!!!!

  2. Thanks for sharing pics of Chicago. I grew up in the suburbs and for two years lived in city itself and have very fond memories of Chicago. I haven't been there in so long - it was nice to see pictures.

Can't wait to hear all about the wedding.
